Spring maintenance / start Flying season 1-4-2017

Spring maintenance - Start flight season 2017

This year, the spring maintenance and the start of the official racing season took place on Saturday, April 1.
Despite the fact that we have given this activity a slightly different look this season, we still had to do some DIY before the 2017 racing season officially started.
Fortunately, the turnout was not disappointing, despite the fact that they had not predicted such great weather.
Fortunately we are not afraid of some wind and some raindrops.
Because Cees had already caught all the moles in the months before, and the field was actually very good, not much needed to be done about it.
So there were only a few small jobs left.
First, we created a new information board.
This new sign shows the regulations that apply to model flying, as well as the house rules of our club.
there is also the program of our club with all activities that take place this year as far as they are known of course.
In this way, everyone can already take into account the dates of these activities.
Now the board only had to be placed at the edge of our field.
This job was done in no time with 4 men strong, the holes were drilled in the ground and the sign placed.
While the information board was being placed a number of other members set up the tent.
After some puzzling, the tent was also quickly in place.
Unfortunately because the weather was not going to be very good, the tent had to provide some shelter when it started to rain.
And last but just as important, the sandy path from the boundary marker to our field still had to be tackled.
This path was very bad, it was full of big holes and when it rains the water stays on it.
So some other members decided that some maintenance was needed here too.
The holes have been closed and some slots have been made to drain the water to the ditch.
After more than an hour, all the work that had to be done was finished, so you see again many hands making light work.
So it was now time for a snack and a drink.
Cook Richard had meanwhile made sure that a delicious cup of tomato soup had been made warm, and that sandwiches with frankfurters or toppings were ready.
All this went well with everyone, and it was also nice to enjoy a snack and drink together after work.
Start flight season 2017.
Of course there had already been members who had flown this year, but because the spring maintenance is the first activity we have this new racing season, we always keep this as the official start of the season.
So Cees had the honor of opening the season by launching his rocket into the air.
Johan (jopie) Ouwersloot was also present with a jet fighter with which he made a number of nice show flights.
I don't know the exact name of the device, but I just call it the tricolore.
The tricolor flew well, he just had a small problem with his nose wheel that didn't always want to come out when Jopie wanted to land.
Thanks to his experience and excellent driving skills, Jopie managed to keep everything intact, and he always neatly landed the tricolor.
Well done you jopie.
As said before, the weather would not be favorable to us.
But despite the weather (it was cloudy, but the rain didn't come until around 4:00 PM) the turnout was quite good.
There was still a lot of flying and it was a very pleasant day.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who cooperated for their help, and thank everyone who was present for helping to make this fun day possible.
