Saturday was for the second time this year that a match of the F5B class took place on our field.
Before I continue with the report of this competition, I would like to tell you a little more about F5B competitions.
A flight round at F5B consists of two tasks:
Fly as many legs as possible (a point indicated by a pole), and make a gliding duration flight with target landing.
Both tasks are flown per heat (flight) without interruption of the flight.
The pilot may use 2 helpers to assist with the tasks.
A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 heats are flown per race.
A time of 200 seconds is allowed for the leg flight.
During this time one should fly as much as possible from rake a to rake b and back to rake a etc. without the engine running.
For each leg flown one gets 10 points.
To make sure that they don't have to do a rake, there are helpers on the a and b rake.
When the pilot passes such a missile, the helper beeps so that the pilot knows that he has passed the missile.
